About the job
Responsible for coordinating the production outputs of all designers, managing procurement activities, and consolidating subcontract information to establish a baseline preconstruction delivery programme for each project from project inception, feasibility, tender, and bid phases to completion. The role involves constant communication with designers and construction site personnel to update programmes, regularly review progress, and assess key project deliverables. The planning team provides support throughout this process.
The projects vary in type and include large EHV cabling, substation construction, and new BESS projects.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with civil and electrical designers to build a design programme from the information given and co-ordinate their input into planning activities.
- Assist in project planning from 1st principles, scheduling, and monitoring progress updating of programmes throughout the duration and life cycle of Projects.
- Analyse data to generate project schedules.
- Ability to provide regular progress updates and reports on project timelines.
- Dealing with designers and communicating progress into a Gantt Chart format
- Contribute to the resolution of any scheduling conflicts or issues and highlight areas of concern.
- Be aware of change control processes: including EW, CE that may need further development.
- Review construction progress from designers, supply chain with input from the construction team
- Assist the Project Manager as directed with planning related matters.
- Attend meetings design and progress meeting as required with Project Teams and Clients.
- Liaise with Client’s Planners, Construction Managers and Project Managers as required.
- Attend site and designers offices for weekly and monthly reporting.
- Collation of progress information & production of progress reporting as required.
- Support in maintaining project documentation and records.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Primavera P6 knowledge desirable - will support development.
- Knowledge of the construction industry – civils and electrical desirable.
- Aware of construction Forms of Contracts – NEC, FIDIC & JCT Forms.
- HNC (Construction related) or equivalent.
- Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of planning and construction activities.
- An understanding to assessing planning construction activities in logical sequences.
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of various Microsoft Office applications and excel etc.
- Knowledge of planning and controls tools and techniques Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card – Visitor – Yellow (can be obtained).
- Keen on software knowledge and new technology developments.
- Driving Licence.
- Potential for flexible working arrangements and location – if required.
- Working knowledge of the construction industry in utilities, civil engineering construction technology.
- Understanding of construction drawings, deliverables, milestone dates and constraints.
- Aware of a BoQ and or activity schedules.
- Demonstrating enthusiasm and consistently delivering quality performance.
- Improvement and innovation with the desire to improve self and others.
- Ability to works across functions and individuals to ensure collaborative working.
