Operations Director
Role Overview
The Operations Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the company's operations, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of products and services. This role requires strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to drive operational excellence across all areas of the organisation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify, plan, develop and implement strategy for operational management and development so as to meet agreed organisational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of operational management and development
- Monitor, measure and report on operational issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timescales
- Recruit, select and develop department team members.
- Direct functions and performance via the department team.
- Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.
- Maintain and develop organisational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners and regulatory/official bodies.
- Report to Snr Operations Director on operational plans and performance.
- Execute the responsibilities of a company director according to lawful and ethical standards.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary operational development theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to directors, managers and staff within the organisation.
- Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
- Ensure that all personnel are aware of their individual roles and responsibilities and are suitably trained to carry out those assigned to them
- Ensure that the day-to-day activities of the Team are undertaken with minimal risk.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Desired not essential)
- Proven experience in senior leadership roles, with a focus on operations management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent strategic planning and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound financial acumen and budget management experience.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards.
