Site Manager
Role Overview
As a Site Manager, you will be instrumental in overseeing construction activities across our EV, and renewable energy projects. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with design engineers, subcontractors, and project management teams to ensure smooth on-site operations. Your responsibilities will include coordinating day-to-day site activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and providing accurate field data to inform project progress.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for effective on-site leadership proactively driving performance and coordination of resource and sub-contractors during the construction phase.
- To act as the example on site, meticulously ensuring that all safe systems of work are reviewed prior to work commencing and adhered to at all times.
- Driving performance in terms of safety and quality whilst ensuring works are delivered on time and in budget.
- Understanding of construction practices, CDM and health and safety management of live construction works.
- Conduct regular SHEQ audits and inspections.
- High level of travel to oversee multiple sites under delivery at anyone time, stay aways may be required dependent on the workload and locations.
Management of Sub-Contractors and Supply Chain
- Manage the day-to-day operations of sub-contractors and supply chain at site level resolving issues to ensure they do not impact overall delivery performance.
- Monitor the performance, health and safety and quality of the site operatives and sub-contractors, reporting into the ICP Project Managers as required.
Construction and Installation
- Proactive review of scheduled activities and management of performance against programme.
- Driving proactive resolution of risks and issues that arise on site.
- Manage and oversee permitting as required.
- Ensure that sites remain in a clean, organised and safe manner, including locking up of site equipment and materials at the end of the day.
Health Safety and Quality
- The Site Manager will promote a positive health and safety culture and lead by example as a H&S exemplar.
- Meticulously ensure that all safe systems of work, RAMS, inspections, COSHH and required competencies are reviewed prior to work commencing and documentation is shared and stored correctly.
- To provide incident reporting (pro-active observations, near misses, incident and accidents).
- Management of Inspection and Test Plans and accountable for capturing evidence to ensure compliance.
- Establish strong working relationships with sub-contractors to support the delivery to required standards and ways of working.
- Management of the construction workstreams to ensure the works meets the design and specification.
- The Site Manager will identify that all site operatives and visitors have received the required training and hold the correct certifications to be on site and undertaking associated tasks.
- The Site Manager will induct all on site personal ensuring they are aware of their health and safety responsibilities and highlighting the hazards and relaying site-specific information.
- The Site Manager will oversee that offices / welfare / sites are laid out and maintained to secure site safety, clear access / egress / emergency routes and that welfare facilities are well maintained.
- Deliver regular briefings and talks on SHEQ matters.
- Weekly SHEQ Site Inspections.
Skills and Experience
- Significant experience in site management with a proven track record of successfully managing construction projects of varying scales and complexities.
- ICP experience and good understanding of associated processes essential.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, material selection and installation techniques, as well as familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Certification in the following IOSH/NEBOSH, SMSTS. NRSWA would be advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to self-manage workload and work with autonomy.
- Strong management skills to resolve construction challenges and sub-contractor issues, with the ability to proactively and pragmatically resolve on site / escalate to ICP Project Manager to achieve project goals.
