Site Manager
We are actively reaching out for Site Managers in and around the London area!
The Site Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of construction and infrastructure projects on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role involves coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors, enforcing health and safety compliance, and acting as the primary point of contact between the site, project team, and stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
Enforce HSE policies and procedures on site.
Conduct toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety inspections.
Report incidents and near misses and lead corrective actions.
Site Coordination & Supervision
Oversee all on-site activities including subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour.
Ensure works are carried out according to drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Coordinate daily briefings, task allocations, and progress tracking.
Quality Control
Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Conduct inspections and support snagging and handover processes.
Maintain site records and documentation for QA/QC audits.
Resource Management
Manage site resources including labour, plant, and materials.
Liaise with procurement and logistics to ensure timely deliveries.
Optimise resource usage to avoid delays and waste.
Stakeholder Communication
Act as the main site contact for clients, consultants, and project managers.
Provide daily updates and escalate issues as needed.
Support client site visits and inspections.
Programme Adherence
Monitor progress against the construction programme.
Identify delays and work with the Project Manager to implement recovery plans.
Ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain site diaries, progress reports, and HSE records.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting to the Project Manager.
Support documentation for handover and close-out.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Proven experience as a Site Manager on construction and/or infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, civil works, and site management practices.
Sound understanding of health and safety legislation and site compliance.
Desirable:
Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Recognised Site Management certification (e.g., SMSTS or equivalent).
Experience in highways, utilities, rail, water, or major infrastructure projects.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and people-management skills.
Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Competent in using construction management and reporting tools.
Working Conditions
Site-based role with travel between project locations.
May require work outside normal hours depending on project needs.
