Bid Manager
As OCU continues its journey of growth, we have a new opportunity for an experienced Bid Manager to join our team. The main purpose of the role will be producing and submitting winning bids that capture and address the clients’ needs. You will be able to do this with passion and flair to support an upward trending tender scoring and success rate.
You will work with Subject Matter Experts from across the OCU Group to articulate the features and benefits of our offering, including estimating, commercial and legal functions to ensure that our submissions are compliant as well as compelling.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Management and completion of quality bidding activities from start to finish.
- Training and mentoring the Junior Bid Manager to support their career development.
- Working with the bid writers to produce exceptionally written bid and proposals.
- Using effective project planning to manage deadlines including production planning and question allocation.
- Attending client bid sessions and workshops where required.
- Storyboarding and answer planning.
- Managing the quality element of the bid, providing a clear brief of the tasks to the supporting writers and subject matter experts.
- Writing and reviewing.
- Facilitation of kick off meetings, workshop sessions and quality reviews.
- Communicating effectively at all levels to get the information you need.
- Ensuring bid folders are up to date and managed appropriately.
- Updating Customer Engagement (CE) system.
- Working with Subject Matter Experts to produce excellent bid content.
- Completion of Pre-qualification Questionnaires (PQQ).
- Completion of Invitation to Tenders (ITT).
- Supporting any post tender activities such as post tender clarifications or best and final offers.
- Submission upload support.
- Development of bid presentations and preparation for site visits (internal and external).
- Working to the bid governance process and ensuring reviews take place.
- Requesting of detailed client feedback and sharing lessons learnt.
- Operational handover.
- Case study generation.
Skills and Experience
- A passion for working in bid and proposals.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Excellent organisational skills are essential.
- Self-motivated and able to work without constant direction and guidance.
- Ability to support a number of concurrent activities.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Excellent time management.
- Microsoft office package; including – Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Degree in relevant discipline.
- Over five years’ experience in bid management (preferably in a similar environment).
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent communicator with a strong team ethic.
- Ability to prioritise and manage within a busy environment.
- APMP Foundation Level (desired).
- APMP Practitioner Level (desired).
