Regional Plant & Transport Manager

We are looking for an experienced Regional Plant & Transport Manager to join the team based in Berkshire. You will be responsible for managing the operation, maintenance, and utilisation of construction plant machinery and transportation vehicles. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the management of the company's fleet of construction plant machinery, vehicles, and equipment. Ensure that all plant and transportation assets are properly maintained, serviced, and inspected according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor the utilisation of plant machinery and transportation vehicles to optimize efficiency and productivity. Coordinate equipment allocation and scheduling to meet project requirements and minimise downtime.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and inspection procedures for plant machinery and transportation vehicles. Coordinate with maintenance teams and external service providers to ensure timely servicing, repairs, and replacements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards for the operation of plant machinery and transportation vehicles. Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and training sessions for operators and drivers.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of plant machinery, equipment, and spare parts. Monitor stock levels, reorder supplies, and coordinate deliveries to ensure availability of essential items for maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor and control costs associated with plant and transportation operations, including fuel, maintenance, repairs, and insurance. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimise operational expenses.
- Supervise and support a team of plant operators, drivers, and maintenance staff. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high standards of performance, safety, and professionalism.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to plant and transportation activities, including equipment usage, maintenance logs, safety incidents, and compliance records. Maintain accurate records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in plant and transport management within the construction industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction plant machinery and transportation vehicles.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and fleet management software.
- Valid driver's license and relevant certifications (e.g., CPCS, CPC) may be required.
