OCU Group are currently looking for a Workshop Plant Fitter to join our growing Plant and Transport team in Levenshulme.
A Workshop Plant Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing plant machinery and equipment used in construction, agriculture, or industrial settings. This role typically involves hands-on technical work in a workshop environment and may also require occasional on-site visits.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on a variety of plant machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, dumpers, loaders, and telehandlers).
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Perform repairs to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely.
Servicing and Overhauls:
- Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Dismantle and rebuild machinery or components as needed.
Workshop Operations:
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols within the workshop environment.
- Complete job cards, service reports, and records accurately.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality.
- Ensure all repairs meet company standards and compliance regulations.
Customer Support:
- Provide technical advice to customers or operators.
- Occasionally travel to customer sites for emergency repairs.
Skills and Experience:
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- City & Guilds certification in relevant areas (desirable).
- Valid UK driving license (essential for site visits).
