Project Manager
Due to significant growth over the course of 2025, OCU Group have a new requirement for an experienced Project Manager to join us in North Wales. The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing water-related projects from initiation through to completion.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the development of project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements, in collaboration with stakeholders and project team members.
Identify project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, local authorities, community groups, and project team members, and establish effective communication channels to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.
Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, developing risk management strategies and mitigation plans to minimize project disruptions and ensure successful project delivery.
Allocate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, to ensure efficient utilization and allocation of resources to meet project objectives and deliverables.
Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance, tracking costs, forecasting variances, and implementing cost-control measures to optimize project profitability and financial outcomes.
Develop and maintain project schedules, timelines, and critical path analyses, monitoring progress, identifying deviations, and implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track and within schedule.
Oversee the negotiation, administration, and management of contracts with clients, suppliers, consultants, and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical oversight and guidance to project teams, engineers, designers, and consultants, reviewing engineering designs, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and standards.
Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure that project deliverables meet or exceed client expectations, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures on project sites, conducting risk assessments, implementing safe work practices, and promoting a culture of safety among project team members and subcontractors.
Skills and Experience
A bachelor's degree or higher qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources management, or a related field is typically required.
Several years of experience in project management, preferably in the water industry or related sectors, with a proven track record of successfully delivering water-related projects of varying size and complexity.
Strong project management skills, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and resource allocation, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire project teams, resolve conflicts, and foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
In-depth knowledge of water engineering principles, water treatment processes, wastewater treatment technologies, hydraulic modeling, and environmental regulations relevant to water-related projects.
Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards governing water management, environmental protection, health and safety, and construction in the UK.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyse data, evaluate options, and develop effective solutions to complex technical, logistical, and organizational challenges.
Strong customer focus and relationship-building skills, with the ability to understand and meet client needs, build trust and credibility, and deliver high-quality services that exceed client expectations.
Flexibility and resilience to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and conditions, with the ability to remain calm under pressure, make decisions decisively, and navigate uncertainty and ambiguity.
Proficiency in using project management software, scheduling tools, and other relevant software applications (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Autodesk Civil 3D) to manage projects, analyse data, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
